Coucou!
In this episode, I'll give you the foundation of my coaching approach to building your confidence as a speaker.
If you feel like your lack of confidence is getting in the way of your French, and if you've tried to increase your confidence in the past and not succeeded, then this podcast episode will help you reframe and redefine confidence and you'll learn how to think about this concept in a whole new way.
Today's takeaway:
Confidence is a skill, not a personality trait. It is not about believing in your abilities, it is really about your ability to take action in times of uncertainty. In other words, confidence is about going for it even if you're scared, even you don't hold the cards, or when you aren't ready.
When it comes to your conversation skills, you want to practise getting outside of your comfort zone on purpose and not solely rely on being prepared and ready, because conversations cannot be predicted and will rarely go as planned, no matter how much French you've learned.
Confidence appears outside of your comfort zone, outside of your zone of competence. Confidence and competence are like two territories that you need to explore and develop to achieve your language goal.
