EP24: Mistakes in French: the good, the bad and the ugly?

Coucou!

Your attitude towards making mistakes is one of the most determining factors of success. You might not even realise that your fear of making mistakes is holding you back. So in today's episode, I'll show you how to find out if you have unhelpful beliefs about making mistakes and how to turn them into your driving force to reach your dream language goal!

In this episode, you will learn:

- how your fear of making mistakes can creep up in invisible ways

- why striving for perfection will lead to worse results than accepting mistakes

- how to rethink the activities you dread the most into powerful learning goals

Today's takeaway:

1. Your fear of making mistakes is preventing you from failing just as it is preventing you from progressing, regardless of your level.

2. Your fear shows up in invisible ways. To uncover them, ask yourself the following questions:

- What are some things I find so difficult to do that I just avoid them altogether?

- What activities am I so uncomfortable with that I think and believe I’m unable to do it?

- What activities and learning methods am I skeptical about?

- How disappointed do I feel when I make a mistake or get negative feedback?

- Am I actually running up against a brick wall, or am I just telling myself that so that I don’t have to try?

3. You're not bad at it, you just never practice it. Deal with your avoidance and the rest will follow.
